The digitalization had so far little impact on Latvian cemetery culture, nevertheless the creators of LTD Cemety have big plans – nest year it is planned to conclude contracts for digitalization of another50 cemeteries, but in 2015 already for digitalization of 100 cemeteries.
A few years ago the IT sphere entrepreneurs Miks Blate and Arvis Zeile, the heads of cemetery information digitalization company LTD Cemety stated that there are a few cemeteries in Latvia, where electronic data registration is being performed. And even if it is being performed the used tools are mainly uncomfortable and inconvenient.
The planning of Cemety was launched last summer, but the company was established by the end of the year. The first contract on cemetery digitalization was concluded this April, but in total during the first half a year five contracts for digitalization of 13 cemeteries were concluded. Until now 11 cemeteries has already been digitalized in Latvia, but the negotiations are being held on digitalization of another 15 cemeteries in cooperation with Ventspils, Valmiera, Sigulda and Jelgava municipalities.
LTD „CEMETY” is a company that deals with digitalization of cemeteries, development and servicing of cemetery digitalization and information maintenance systems. The system was developed in cooperation with municipalities and cemetery management specialists. The data input and information processing was developed to be to the utmost convenient for user of any age.
CEMETY system is developed for convenience of cemetery keepers and managers, as well as for residents. Therefore two portals are available: one for cemetery managers, another – for residents, for the search of buried persons and viewing on maps.
